The coronavirus pandemic is putting many certainties to the test: how do we want to live and work in future? What can we as a society do to take better care of our health? And even though we can’t tell what the future may hold, one thing is certain: digitalisation will increasingly pervade our lives. Rather than gazing into the crystal ball, we prefer to focus on scientific analyses and concrete impulses on 17 June: the “Thinking work ahead – Outlook for Work & Society 2040” conference which will be held in German will be exploring four scenarios indicating the ways our work will change over the next 20 years. With our new Civic Coding initiative (website currently in German only), we want to link infrastructures, funding programmes, initiatives, projects, and communities to create a strong AI innovation network for the common good across all sectors: for digital competence in society, for the climate, for the working world, for the way we live together. One important component of the innovation network is our Civic Innovation Platform (website currently in German only), which launched the second round of our “AI is what we make it!” idea contest this month.
